It ’s okay for Donald Trump to say it, in fact, millions of viewers tune into The Apprentice each week to see who will be next to go. In business, it’s common practice to fire someone when they’re not carrying their weight or they’re not a good fit. Yet, in our personal lives, we agonize before letting someone go.

...and that combover! No offense to the Donald.
In life, sometimes, we outgrow each other, but we don’t say, “You’re Fired” because it’s too harsh. It hurts when we don’t fit together anymore. To spur me into action, my brother, Artie, always says “Trece, would you want that person in your foxhole?”
Let me digress for a moment, when I lost all my hair during chemotherapy, in a show of support, my dad, who had been sporting a combover for many years, shaved his head! If being bald is what it took for my dad to get rid of that combover, then THANK YOU cancer!
Back to the point, there are doctors, friends, colleagues, even family members who aren’t meant to stay in our lives forever. Give yourself permission to let them go. Be honest, if your butt cheeks tighten and you sigh, both heavily and slowly, before answering their call, do they deserve a place in your directory?
Cheryl had the same hairdresser, Rona, for 15 years. When Rona left, Cheryl found a new one, but the fit wasn’t right…for a year! Finally, she gave up and tried someone new. Success! Why did she wait so long to admit it wasn’t a good fit?
People are in our life for a reason, a season or a life time. Obviously, not everyone in your life is foxhole worthy but if you sigh, break out in hives or just plain “don’t wanna”, grant yourself permission and set yourself free.

My goodness, “firing” is really a gift you give yourself and your sanity.
Afterall successful people surround themselves with contributors. What I got out of this…..Bottom line-surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you.
Thanks,
