“Lucy, you got some ‘splainin’ to do!”

"Lucy, you got some 'splaining to do!"

"Lucy, you got some 'splaining to do!"

One of my all time favorite episodes of I love Lucy is the one where Lucy Arnez and Ethel Mertz are working the assembly line of a chocolate factory. What a classic! As the conveyer belt gets much too fast for them, they find creative solutions like popping the chocolate into their mouths, hahahahhaha!

Yesterday, my nephew John and I were disconnecting the old washing machine in preparation for the new one.  John thought the hose was filled with too much water so I got a big empty pot…just in case!  When he unscrewed the hose from the machine, the water came out full speed ahead and sprayed everywhere.  We couldn’t help but laugh hysterically as we raced towards the on/off valve on the wall only to discover it no longer worked!  We were able to get the shooting water hose into the drain without flooding the downstairs neighbors (what a relief) and used all of my bath towels to soak up the water!  It was fun! Then, we shut the water to the condo unit off and waited for a plumber! Not fun. I needed a shower! So John was my Ethel and I was his Lucy (I always wanted to be Lucy).

If we were being filmed, I think we would have won America’s Funniest Home Video. It was a combination of an I Love Lucy and a Candid Camera episode! Something unexpected happened. I had a choice of what to do:

  • Freeze not knowing what to do as the hose sprayed water all over the place,
  • Get angry, kick the washing machine and hobble around with a sore foot or
  • Laugh and get it handled!
  • Click on the Lucy video in Favorite Videos. Enjoy your belly laugh!

Too funny…can see it all very clearly.

Love …. conveyer belt. I know the chocolates were literally on a conveyer belt, but “conveyer belt” had come to signify over the top experiences, memories, and perhaps feelings of “when is the next shoe going to fall…I know it is coming”. Your site gives us an opening to step off and laugh, love and listen.

I for one am no longer willing to do the same thing over and over again, while expecting a different result.
It is with your generous and humorous sharing that makes change something to look forward to

      Thanks, Bunkey
